The supervision module of the system receives the signals generated by the sensors connected to the gear unit. Those input signals can be grouped in analogical inputs and digital inputs.
Analogical inputs:
Vibrations: The system will have two analogical inputs to connect two accelerometers.
Bearings temperature: The system will have eleven inputs to connect eleven temperature sensors connected to the bearings.
Oil temperature: The system will have one input to connect one sensor that measures the temperature of the oil.
Auxiliary analogical inputs: The supervision module will have four auxiliary analogical inputs to measure extra parameters.
Digital inputs:
Oil level: It is a binary input (ON/OFF) which indicates when the oil level is lower than a threshold level.
Auxiliary digital inputs: Five auxiliary digital inputs will be supplied to supervise other extra binary parameters.
Digital outputs:
The supervision module of the system only generates digital output signals (ON/OFF), which will indicate alarms or failures detected during the supervision. The outputs will allow the activation of an external relay. There will be five outputs in all.
Vibrations: The supervision module will activate it on detecting an alarm or failure corresponding to the measures of any of the two vibrations inputs (accelerometers).
Bearings temperature: The supervision module will activate it on detecting an alarm or failure corresponding to the measures of any of the eleven bearings temperature inputs.
Oil temperature: The supervision module will activate it on detecting an alarm or failure corresponding to the measure of the oil temperature input.
Oil level: The supervision module will activate it on detecting that the oil level is lower than the threshold.
Auxiliary inputs failure or alarm: Another output will be included that will be activated it on detecting an alarm or failure corresponding to the measures of any of the auxiliary analogical inputs or on detecting the activation of any of the auxiliary digital inputs.
The user’s interface is through a small terminal connected to the Supervision module by means of a RS232 serial connection. This terminal has a keyboard and a small LCD screen. Besides, the Supervision module has a column with five tricolour LEDs related to every output to inform about the working situations: normal (green), alarm (amber) or failure (red). The terminal is also provided with a pair of LEDs to inform about the situations: alarm (amber) and/or failure (red).
