The SADIRET application ( Gear Units type TANDEM Desing Aid) is conceived to facilitate the desing of the gear units TANDEM type manufactured by ETC-RALPE.

The TANDEM type mechanisms are standardised in their general aspects, some of the parameters are fixed according to the catalogue, whereas there are other parameters, those that are related to the characteristics and size of the kinetic chain of the mechanism, that are designed for every case depending on the working conditions, the characteristics of the driven machine or the necessities expressed by the customer. 

Starting by the technical specifications requested by the customer, the SADIRET application allows to automatize and to lump together the job of calculation the elements of the gear unit and the obtaining of drawings and reports, minimizing by this way the time to design the gear units.

The SADIRET application consists of two fundamental components:

The user’s interface, that allows to have access to its functional characters.

The ORACLE database, that is in charge of the storage of the resultant data and the references to the obtained CAD drawings. 

The SADIRET application allows to cover all the phases of the design of a TANDEM gear unit.
 
First of all and starting from the data supplied by the customer, it allows to get all the information about the calculation of the gear unit and to store it in the database.

Once the calculation is done, the application allows to obtain a schematic drawing of the gear unit based on the calculation, named pattern. The pattern allows to check the coherence of the calculation parameters and to modify them if need be. The modifications made on the pattern will have no effect in the calculation data. The calculation data can only be modified and re-stored in the database from the calculation application.

When the pattern is stored, the system allows to get the working drawings of the housing and the other components of the gear unit: shafts, wheels, covers and bushings.

Other functional character that SADIRET application offers is that, once the calculation data are stored, it provides technical reports of the calculated gear unitsThe SADIRET application consists of the following functional modules:
 
Data input module. It is the starting point of the application, as it is the module in which the data related to the gear unit we are going to study are introduced. Among the input data figures both general informative data and precise data to do the calculation. The technical specifications requested by the customer are introduced in this module.
 
Parallel and bevel gears calculation module. Starting from the input data, this module realizes the geometrical and mechanical calculation of the gear unit and stores the results in the database. 

Bearings calculation module. Starting from the input data and once the gears calculation is done, this module realizes the bearings calculations corresponding to every shaft of the gear unit and stores the results in the database.
 
Pattern displaying module. Once the gears and bearings calculations are done and their results stored, this module allows to display, in the MicroStation CAD system, the graphical result from the gears and bearings calculations stored in the database.
 
Housing working drawings displaying module. In the same way as it happens in the previous module, this module allows to display, in the MicroStation CAD system, the resultant dimensions from the gears and bearings calculations stored in the data base.
 
Components working drawings displaying module. This module obtains, by means of the MicroStation CAD tool, the working drawings of the components of the gear unit: shafts, wheels, covers and bushings.
 
Reports module. This module generates the technical reports of the gear unit starting from the calculation data stored in the database. The reports are obtained in Microsoft Word 97 format..
